Quandamooka Festival

01 June to 31 August 2019
91 Days - 7 Major events - 2 Evening concerts - 4 workshops - June 1 to August 31

The annual Quandamooka Festival, held from June to August, in the coastal region East of Brisbane is a great opportunity to become immersed in one of the oldest living cultures on earth. Experience the continuing culture of the Nughi, Nunukul and Goenpul clans of Quandamooka, first-hand. Learn more about Country; the sands, seas, sacred lakes, creeks, catchments and creatures found across the Redlands / Moreton Bay islands from the Quandamooka Peoples perspective. Become socially engaged in Caring for Country, and enjoy the thrill of experiencing wildlife in their natural environment..

The Quandamooka Festival theme for 2019 is “language” – respecting The United Nations’ International Year of Indigenous Languages. The ‘Jandai’ language of the Quandamooka peoples freely shared and recorded in the 1800s is revitalised through festival programs. Our theme: Jandai Wuluara, Ngaliya Wulara – Jandai Lingo, Our Lingo.
